Heritage assessment and conservation advice for a Category B listed gate lodge

As Heritage Consultant, I prepared a Heritage Statement to support a listed building consent application for Porter’s Lodge, a Category B listed gate lodge within the Mar Lodge Estate and Cairngorms National Park. The work included historical research, detailed assessment of architectural, social, and landscape significance, and provision of conservation advice to guide design development.

The approach ensured sensitive internal alterations and a subservient rear extension while preserving the lodge’s historic character and enabling long-term residential use.
