Conservation-led adaptive reuse of a 19th-century rural parish church
As Lead Designer and Conservation Architect, I led the adaptive reuse of a 19th-century parish church designed by John Smith.
The commission included preparing a Heritage Statement and developing conservation-led design proposals for sensitive internal alterations to support community use. I also contributed heritage and architectural input to a successful Scottish Land Fund Stage 2 grant application, enabling Friends of Tough Community Church to purchase the building and commence works.
This project safeguarded a significant rural parish landmark while providing a sustainable future through community-focused reuse.
